Quilt Market!!!  That’s all I can think about right now.  I love going to market and reconnecting with all of my friends and meeting new ones.  It’s like going to camp for me.  And this year my best friend Debbie is going with me and again we will have connecting rooms with my friends Brenda and Sandy.   FUN FUN FUN!  We will be taking a ton of pictures to share and hopefully I’ll have a nice goodie bag to give away when I get back.  So stay tuned for that.

Yesterday I got the cutest book from the man in the cute little brown shorts and the big truck.   And right away I knew I had to do it as a block of the month.  You can go sign up now on the website.  I have spots left.  I showed it on Facebook yesterday. This is the cutest book I’ve seen in quite awhile. Honestly, and everything inside I want to make.  . I’ve listed the BOM as Farm Fresh but the quilt is really called Simple Life.

Now the block of the month.  You must buy the book from me in order to do the block of the month.  It is sold separately.  All of the info on the block of the month is on the website.

Lori Holt’s and Riley Blake fabrics Bake Sale fabric has arrived.  It is so cute I can’t wait to dive into that bundle.  Here is the link to them on the website.

These are the prints I have in stock of Bake Sale.  Plus the bundles.  These are under the category Riley Blake.

I know this pattern has been around awhile but I’ve always wanted to make it.  And finally I am.

Here are some of my Chubby Chicks.  I’d be happy to make you a kit like mine if you want. Just send me a message.

Aren’t these cute?   Needles in a matchbook.   Much better than matches don’t ya think?  Unless you need a fire then these will NOT help you.

http://daisycottagequilting.com/store/#!/~/product/category=397862&id=23547572

Scarlet Red scissors are back in stock. I love the red pouch they come in  too. You can find them here.

You can still sign up  for  the Chateau Hexagon BOM from Lynette Anderson too. Once these are gone it’s sold out. Canada residents will have to pay extra for shipping.  Shipping in the US is included in the price.

Vignette 9 is on the websitefor PRESALE.  It should be here soon.  If your on auto ship I’ll be sending you an invoice when it ships to me.  If you’re not sure you can email me to make sure you are on the list.

http://daisycottagequilting.com/store/#!/~/product/category=397862&id=21618764

I won’t be shipping any orders after today.  Anything ordered will go out once I return from Market.  I will be checking emails if you have any questions.

I tried to link everything back to the website.  I can’t promise you it worked on my first try but here’s hoping.  * Ok I see the linkage isn’t working.  Let me see if I can fix it.  It doesn’t show up in a different color either.  Grrrrrrrrrrr

Thank you for all of your support and business.  It means the world to me and my little business.

Daisy Tutorial

Posted May 8th, 2013 in What's New

Sorry this took me so long but here goes the Zipper bag tutorial.  I’ve done other zipper bag tutorials so some of this will be a repeat.

Let’s cut our pieces for the zipper bag. Pick our your fabrics and let’s get going.

You will need 12 pieces that are 2 1/2″ x 4 1/2″ for each side of your bag. Front and back.

Sew them together in  sets of two.  1/4″ seams on all pieces.  This one is facing upside down. Not sure why.  lol

Lay them out in order that pleases you and then sew rows of three sets.  You need two rows of three sets for the front and the back.

Join two rows together, for front and same for the back.

This is one side of your bag.

And here are both sides.

Now let’s get ready to quilt. But first we need our lining.

Cut two pieces the exact same size as your front and back. This will be used for lining.  I just laid mine right there on top of  my lining fabric and cut it out.  Of course I made sure they were all the same size when I was done.  :))

Back to the quilting. Cut out two batting pieces the same size as your front, back and linings.  Layer them,  lining wrong side up, batting, and bag top right side up all together and quilt.  The photo below is just showing you the lining pieces and the front and back.

Here are my two pieces all quilted and my zipper.  Depending on what size bag you are making will determine what zipper size.

I will let you get this far and I’ll be back with the zipper part of the instructions.

Daisy News!!!

Posted April 25th, 2013 in What's New

Hi there!!!!   What a beautiful day we are having today.  But as you know that could change tomorrow.  I planted some new Perennials this past weekend then I heard maybe snow a couple days ago.  Nooooooo.  I’m good to go with the snow for this year.  Let’s move on shall we? After I show you one of my flowers that came up already.  Unlike the Tulips I planted three years ago.  :(

Good news!!  Lynette Anderson has her new Button BOM ready.  And I’ve signed up and you can join me by signing up on the website.  Remember it’s a mystery so we don’t have a complete photo of the quilt.  I can tell you it’s 26×37 and it’s a 9 month BOM. Lynette left a comment on my FB page letting us know that each month will include some piecing,  embroidery and the hexagons of course. I’m excited about this one.

I finally finished this quilt. I have kits on the website or you can just order the book if you want to make one in your own colors.

You can find this kit on the website.  7 Days a Week it’s called.

This Pam Kitty zipper bag is going to be a tutorial.  I’ll be posting it on my website if you want to make a couple of them.  You can also order a kit if you want it like mine.  The yellow zipper pull on the left is not included in the kit.

This kit is called Roadshow and you can find it on the website.  I love this little quilt.

Vintage Star is the name of this kit.  It’s actually Vintage Star 2 because I also have this kit in fall colors on the website.

I think that’s enough to let you think about today.  I have lots more but don’t want to overload you. Plus me and my best friend Debbie will be heading to Quilt Market in a few weeks and then you know I’ll have more new.

Please remember that if you are overcharged shipping I always return it to you.  If I forget you can feel free to let me know and I will take care of it right away.  :)

The cost should be around 21.00 each month including shipping.  Not sure of the exact cost yet.  Here is a sneak peak of it.

Well,  what’s going on??  Anyone working on anything exciting???  I’ve been sewing as usual over here.  Also doing a little redecorating for Springtime. I’m ready.  Yes I said I’m ready. The snow can all go away now.  Send in the warmer weather.

I am going to be starting a sewing circle.  If you live in the St. Louis area and would like to join us you can email me your info and I’ll let you know when it’s all set up and ready to go.  The first few meetings might be here at my house until I find a place for us to sew. I’m really excited to start this.  Even if you just want to do handwork,  stitchery, etc you can join us.  At first we might all be doing handwork at my house if I don’t have room for machines.  But that will be fun too.  But you must let me know and reserve a spot.  I already have a few on the list.

New::    I’ve got a few new things to share.

This is a reorder and now back in stock.  This is my favorite zipper bag pattern.  I can’t even tell you how many I’ve made.

Abby’s Treasure Box

Scrappy Sack

Cherry Blossom Baskets

3 Times the Charm Book Two

Animal Stackers

Bunny Hop Pillow

Messenger Bag

I got two new marking pens.     Chacopen and Trace N Mark.

I’m working on the next block for the Marmalade tutorial .  Please look on the website for months 1 and 2.  3 coming soon.  And if your doing the kits you should have yours any day.

I’ll be showing a couple new things I have going on in the next newsletter. I think I’m about out of room here.

WINNER!!! This months winner of the 25.00 gift certificate is Elizabeth Mitler.  Elizabeth send  me a message and I’ll tell you how to redeem.   We will have a new winner at the end of April.

Before I go I’ll let you know that I’m having a sale until Sunday.  20% off fabric.  Enter the code APRIL at checkout.  Please remember to enter the code.   Precuts will be included too in the sale.

Marmalade Tutorial part 2

Posted March 29th, 2013 in What's New

Ok so here goes the Marmalade tutorial part 2.  This one has 2 blocks.

Block 1 is on top and the two bottom ones are Block 2

Here we go: This will be a 6″ block.

You will need 16  - 1 1/2″ squares from the light colored fabric.  And 8 – 1  1/2″x 2  1/2″  rectangles from the peach colored fabric.  And 5  -  2  1/2″ squares also from the peach colored fabric.

We are going to make the flying geese with the 1 1/2″ squares and the 1 1/2″x 2 1/2″ rectangles.

Draw a diagonal line across each of the light colored 1 1/2″ inch squares.  Then sew one to each side of the 1 1/2″x 2 1/2″ rectangle on the drawn line. Trim, flip it over and press. You will need 8 total of these.

Sew two of your flying geese together. You need to do this 4 times.

Lay out your pieces just like the picture below.  Sew the top row together, then the second and then the third. Now join the three rows together.

This is your complete block.

Now for the second block. It is also a 6″ block. This is a pinwheel block.

Cut four white squares for your corner block .  Cut four  1 1/2″ squares

Cut four rectangles 1 1/2 x 4 1/2″ I did it in the striped fabric.

Now for the pinwheels.  Cut 2  2  7/8″ squares in white and 2  2 7/8″ squares from the green dotted fabric. Place a white square on top of the green dotty fabric. Draw a diagonal line across the back of the white fabirc and sew on BOTH sides of that line.  Cut down the middle when you are done and you will have two half square triangle blocks.  You need to do this again so that you will have 4 half square triangle blocks.

Lay your pieces out like I have mine below and sew it together again in rows like we did on the block above. First sew row 1,  then 2 and then 3. Next adjoin all three rows.

Both blocks we made just now are 6″

I’m working on #3 now. I promise the instructions will be more detailed.  I did these a year ago and wasn’t sure I’d be using them as a tutorial or not.  Now that I know it’s a go the instructions will be much better. Any questions PLEASE let me know.  I’d be happy to help.If your doing the BOM kits your pieces are already cut out so you should be able to follow along easily.  :)

Sorry I’ve been away for awhile.  Not sure what I’ve been doing other than the obvious.  Quilting my little heart out. This year is flying by isn’t it?  Can it be April in a couple days?  I have to say I’m ready for some warm, sunny days.  But while I was away we did get pounded by a snow storm.  15 inches here in our town. Yes 15.  I was quite the happy person.  While I might have been the ONLY happy person in St. Louis.  I kept my excitement on the down low for the most part.  Well I tried anyway.

This was the view I saw when I woke up Sunday morning.  I loved it.

Can you see the clothesline down there?  I wish I would have zoomed in on it. Because just the day before I was out there hanging quilts on it taking pictures.

So this was the clothesline the day before the big snow.  You just never know here.  Growing up here I do not remember snow in March.

This quilt is called Star Burst.  It’s 33″ sq.  The kit is on the website.  The kit comes with the pattern, and fabric for the front, back and binding.

Here’s another new quilt I made.  I used the Riley Blake Gingham fat quarter bundle for this.  I am in love with those ginghams.  Used to be all you could find was ginghams that weren’t 100% cotton.

No kit available.  But I’d share my pattern if you get the bundle.  Or you can do it on your own. It’s pretty easy.

I am in LOVE with this table topper.  Bet you know why…….it’s RED!!   It went together so easy.  I only have a few kits of this as I only had a few patterns left.

This topper is called Capital T and the size is 24 1/2″ sq. The kit comes with the pattern, and fabric for the front, back and binding.

I have so much quilting to do.  You should see the stack of unquilted tops I have stacked up.  The pile keeps growing and growing.

While straightening bolts and bolts of fabric and fat quarters, I made up two bundles of  Bliss fat quarters.  I only have these two.   One has 15 fat quarters and the other has 24.  They are under MODA or Precuts on the website.

Scraps, I’m bundling up scraps in every color.  I’ll get them on the website next week I’m hoping.  Some of my scraps are really big pieces.  I can just never ever use all of that up.  So be on the lookout for those.

I’ve been working on getting my Vintage Memories quilt done. This was a BOM that several of you are doing with me.   Actually we only have one kit left and that’s the finishing kit.  This quilt is HUGE.  But I love the colors.  I have a set of the patterns on the website if anyone would like to make this quilt.  We’ve done it in Christmas colors as a BOM and now this.  I could make it in every color and I just might before I’m done.  It’s a great quilt and Sherri of This & That has the best instructions ever.  Next we’ll be doing the Love Letters quilt of hers as a BOM.  When I get a couple blocks up I’ll post the sign ups. Or you can email me now if your interested.  It’s another big one.

As soon as I finish this newsletter I’ll be putting the next block tutorial up on the website for Marmalade BOM.  Your kits will be in the mail on Monday if your doing that with us.  This month you will get two blocks to make.  But they are small, so don’t freak out.  lolol   And as you know I already have the pieces cut out for you. All you have to do is SEW.

Block 1 is on the left and Block 2 are the two little blocks on your right.  I told you they were small.

Any thoughts on Aurifil threads out there?  I’m looking into carrying it here on the website.  I love it and love the  spools.  Now it’s going to come out on wooden spools that are six strand divisible and 100% cotton.

I’m thinking that all of my stitchery BOM’s will include this thread in them soon.

This has absolutely nothing to do with quilting other than the quilt the flowers are sitting on.  But aren’t they pretty? Hunka brought them home to me this week.  Do they say Spring or what?

I hope everyone out there has a very Happy Easter on Sunday!!!!

Finally I got my sewing MOJO back.  It has been gone since we got home from our trip we took in December.  Seriously it was MIA.   But it’s back and I’m bustin a move in the sewing room. I’ve been quilting on my Gammill  (Daisy) and sewing up a storm on my Pfaff.

I love aqua and red don’t you?  I made this quilt for my kitchen table and/or my patio table on the deck for Spring.  The kit is on the website.  The pattern is free from Lecien and is called Court Street.

Easter is almost here.  Time is a whipping on by this year isn’t it?  Made two of these yesterday. One for me and for my BFF.  She makes me the cutest little dolls and I make her little table toppers/pillows/etc.  Seriously I can make two at the same time and it’s nothing.  You can too.  Just make two at a time and you have a giftie.  You’ll make “someone” very happy.  Just sayin!

Kit is on the website for this cutie.  Angels Danced kit.  I decided to make a little wall hanging instead of the pillow.  I’m happy I did.

New patterns/book on website.

Here’s a perfect tote bag for shopping.  The size is approx 18×22 without the handles.  So it’s a great size.  I love this fabric and have wanted to make something out of it.

If you want to make one you can get a kit on the website under KITS.    Redbird Tote Bag

WINNER of our $25 gift certificate this month is Carey Kepley.  Carey send me an email and I’ll tell you how to redeem your gift certificate.  I’ll pick a new winner at the end of March. All you have to do is place an order in March and your in the drawing.

I think that’s enough new to keep you busy looking until I come back.

Don’t forget if your doing the Marmalade online tutorial the instructions for block 1 have been posted on the website.
