Zipper tutorial part 2

Posted September 29th, 2012 in What's New

Here I am.  Sorry for the delay. Do you have your zipper bag there waiting to be finished?

Next we will do the lining.  This is where I hope you understand my pictures.

Take one of your lining pieces turn it right side down and lay it on that part of the zipper you can see in the photo.  I know it seems odd.  But lay it along the zipper the right side of the fabric will be laying right on that zipper edge.  When your done sewing flip the lining over to the batting so the right side will be facing up.

Now your taking the second piece of lining.  And laying it right sides together with the other lining piece.  And your going to sew it on the opposite zipper side.  Can you see the zipper laying under the fabric? Do you see how you lay the top of your lining right on that outter part of the zipper?  I hope this makes sense. I know it’s confusing but just play around with it and it will get easier.  Do a practice one first maybe.  OK so after your done sewing flip that piece over so it’s right side up facing you.

This is what you should have!!    Your lining should be wrong sides together now with the front and back piece.  Batting in the middle.

Flip it over and this is what you see.

See the lining in there?

Now let’s sew it up.  Your should look like this.  To get it that way,  make sure your lining is right sides together and the other side is right sides together.

Pin and sew but remember to unzip that zipper part of the way. And leave an opening for turning it right side out. DO NOT forget those two things.  I leave the opening on the lining part.  Not the quilted side.

Here we gooooooooo.    Remember to leave an opening in the lining part.  And is that zipper opened up a bit???

Now it’s time to turn that baby right side out.  Makes me happy I had C-Sections.  Just sayin!!!

Sew your opening closed.

And look what you got!!!!!!   Now make another one right away!!  Practice, practice, practice!!

Please let me know if you have any questions. I’d be happy to help you.  :)
